RING SIZING

EMMAJANEDONALD uses the alphabetical ring sizing system. We offer limited ring sizes online. If your size is not available please contact us for a quote.

If you are unsure of your size you can visit any reputable jeweller or jewellery shop and ask them to size your finger. Alternatively, we can post an easy to use ring size gauge to you. If you need further advice with sizing please contact us via email. Please note - we will custom make your order to your provided size specifications. We cannot accept responsibility if your order was made to your requested size but does not fit.

BRACELET SIZING

The bracelets in our online store are available in standard sizes.  If you would like a particular size or fit please email us with your details. To work out your bracelet size, simply measure the inside diameter of an existing bracelet that fits perfectly.  For cuff orders a wrist measurement will be required. To determine your wrist measurement - Measure your wrist below the wrist bone (where you would normally wear your bracelet) using a flexible measuring tape, piece of string or a strip of paper. If using string or a strip of paper, mark with a pen where the two ends join. Then measure this length with a ruler. This is your wrist measurement

CHAIN

We use quality solid sterling silver and gold chains.

If you would like to order a necklace with a specific chain length please contact us for a quote. Additional charges may apply.

METALS

STERLING SILVER

Sterling silver is a white alloy comprising 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals. Sterling silver jewellery may tarnish naturally over time. To clean matte sterling silver jewellery we recommend using silver foam. It is an easy to use paste, which you apply with a sponge. After you have covered your jewellery in the paste, rinse off with cold water and dry with a soft cloth. Silver foam can be bought from department and jewellery stores. Polished sterling silver jewellery can also be cleaned with silver foam or a soft polishing cloth.

BLACKENED STERLING SILVER

Oxidised or blackened silver is a surface treatment. With wear over time, the blackened surface will fade back to reveal the sterling silver surface below. Areas of the jewellery that are in contact with skin and other hard surfaces will usually expose the sterling silver first. This process will be different for each individual piece, adding another dimension or story to the jewellery’s life. Clean with warm water and dish washing liquid. Avoid silver cleaning agents.

BLACK RHODIUM AND GOLD PLATING

An electroplated finish is a method where a thin layer of rhodium or gold is deposited onto the surface of another metal. Slow gradual fading may occur. EMMAJANEDONALD pieces are designed to mature and evolve in this way. This process may take months or even years, depending how the jewellery is worn. Like other surface treatments the changes that occur can add further dimension to the jewellery’s appearance. An item with an electroplated finish will last much longer than an oxidised finish. Clean with warm water and dish washing liquid. Avoid abrasive cleaning agents. If you wish to have your piece restored to its original condition, we offer a re-plating service. This service may incur a fee.

GOLD

Throughout history gold has been used to make jewellery - especially engagement and wedding rings. Gold is prized for its strength and durability. A variety of rings, earrings and necklaces on the web store are priced in gold. Additional gold prices are available on request via email. Gold quotes are valid for two weeks. Gold options are 9ct rose (pink), 9ct yellow, 9ct white, 18ct rose, 18ct yellow and 18ct white. Gold jewellery can be finished with a matte or polished surface.

PEARLS

We hand select only the finest black Tahitian and freshwater pearls focusing on colour, luster, size and symmetry.

If simple steps are followed, you will able to pass your pearls on for generations. Always remember to put your pearls on last, after your perfume and cosmetics, as exposure to these products, along with perspiration and dirt, will age your pearls. Rings with pearls in them should be worn less frequently if you wish for your pearl to last a long time. Pearls can get knocked more often when worn on the hand and therefore can lose their luster more quickly and may also become loose in their settings. You may gently wipe your pearls with a slightly damp cloth but do not submerge them in water or any other liquid. Do not use ultrasonic cleaning.

REPAIRS

All jewellery is carefully checked before shipping, but if you do come across a fault we will gladly repair or exchange the original piece. Please note that wear and tear in the course of normal use is not considered a fault. This includes surface scratches, oxidisation fading or tarnishing. To notify us of a faulty item or if your jewellery needs to be repaired please email us with your name and address, proof of purchase, product details and a photograph of the item. We will get back to you with the best way to proceed and if there will be a cost associated. For further details please refer to the RETURNS AND EXCHANGES section.
